Actually another question, does it mean that as not all is genuine, the warranty might not be valid?
  • But you can get these cables very, very cheap. Surely just get another one?

I'm not clued up on iPhone prices but I can imagine otherwise this was good value? If so just buy another cable!

    Hi pinkshoes,

I emailed him telling that the cable was falling apart and I was going to take it to apple but I just wanted to confirm that it was genuine. His reply was, "apple won't be able to do anything as it is not a genuine cable, I can refund £1.40 as that is how much they are on eBay where I got it from, those cables are not ver good them"

Those were his word, I am so angry, had I known any of it was fake I wouldst have made the purchase

look up how much it costs to buy a genuine iphone cable then ask for that as a refund.

I'm sure that won't affect the warranty.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

£1.99 by the looks of things!

Like I said, not even worth complaining about, just get another one!

OK even if that's not an official Apple product at £1.99 are you really going to worry about maybe having to get a new one every 6 months?

Arguing over £1.99 when the seller is in the right? Come on.

As I've just edited, at £1.99 is it really a problem if you have to buy one every 6 months? (less than £4 a year)

Some things are worth making a fuss over some things aren't. This is just a buy another cable job.

Another tip, when you spend £390 leave it a bit before leaving positive feedback, that'll give you a bit more bargaining power if you're not happy.

Feedback cannot be used for bargaining power, as soon as you advise the seller you will leave negative feedback then eBay see it as 'feedback extortion' and will remove it.

AT this stage I would be less worried about is the cable genuine than is the phone actually genuine?!

Check out if the phone is genuine, if it is then be happy that you are lucky and have actually received a genuine phone (lots sold on ebay aren't).

    Hi All,

I thought I had update this in case it helps anyone else in future. The seller has spoken to ebay who have told him that he needs to refund me the price of an original cable which is £15. He has apologised and is making the refund now. iammumtoone, I checked with Apple about the phone and it is all genuine, that is why I went ahead and bought it, hence me assuming that everything is legit. I am a head of advertising so I know the law regarding misleading, but I wanted to make sure that I wasnt being over sensitive here. I know its only £15 but that is not the point, its good to see that ebay agree with me and he is now rectifying the situation. For those suggesting I buy the cheap cable, I am not looking for a £1.99 cable, I want the real thing so I dont have to be buying every 6 months and going through the hassle. Luckily this has now been sorted and hope this helps anyone in a similar situation
