Desperate and random pls help

Ok so have had LBM and dealing with it but have been dealt a real blow

My dad lives in US and I got call yesterday to say he has been taken into hospital and is in very bad way I need to get there an just dont know how - cheapest flight I can find is £1200!!! That that is with about 3 changeovers - I don't care I would change over 6 times if that's what it takes

In summary have about £400 "saved" and couple hundred pounds head room on 2 credit cards I'm going to try the bank tomorrow don't fancy my chances but....... Think I am going to end having to go down a high cost loan provider to get there but any suggestions on how to minimise the damage or source a really cheap flight ( Florida) appreciated

Am out of my mind with worry I'm an only child and the only family he has

Thank you

Have you tried looking for a last minute package deal? You don't have to use the whole package.

I am sorry to hear the news about your Dad.

I would suggest you post on the Overseas Holiday's and Travel Planning board to ask about cheap flights.

If you live anywhere near an airport it might be worth packing your case and going and waiting for a standby ticket which will be cheaper than booking in even a bit in advance.

I've just had a look at lastminute.com and there's a flight 22 July from Heathrow to Miami for £871.

Could you get a cheap flight to Orlando then an internal transfer?

I'm in Scotland but thinking would be best to flay a low cost airline to any of the main hubs down south and go from there
