She may be with the same employer - but this may have been seen as a way to save a little money - or as it probably more likely will have been an oversight of the person doing the recruitment in the department. (It probably didn't even pass their mind, as they will have been focusing on the best person for the job RE: nursing skills experience etc)...
However the pay - being on point one of the scale will probably have been stipulated in the contract that your wife signed, and there fore is not part of the terms and condition of her employment.

I'm a band 4 contracted to 20 hours a week, every year I move up the spine. I also have a bank contract for the exact same job however I don't move up every year, I have to work so many hours before I get to move up a pay point. Is one of her contracts a bank contract?0

Yes, but the OP hasn't said that the two jobs are totally different. If she is working as, say, a band 5 nurse at both then it is likely that when getting one job they would take the experience of the other into consideration when deciding starting point. In fact it would be unusual to have someone drop a point on taking up a new post. It's the same with holiday entitlement. I worked in the NHS thirty years ago but the four years I did then are taken into account for annual leave allowance now.
Yes I see your point you are right on that.0 -
Being new to the NHS all I can say is what band they put you on means f:/3k all. From my experience at least.
It depends on your boss where you wind up. It depends on you to make the case to what you deserved to be paid.
The system isn't as fair as they put it out to be, but who makes most noise wins.0 -
Could it be because in the community your wife doesn't work weekends nights ,etc therefore loses her enhancements for unsocial hours ?0

Well, actually within nursing and midwifery its pretty straightforward, especially at the lower levels where the OP's wife is.0 -

It seems that when she started the community post she was not put on the same pay point of the band 5 as her other job.
Each year after a full year of service she will go up a pay point till she reaches the top of the band 5.
She should of check what pay point she was being put on when taking the job as there is nothing she can do about it just now.Total DebtWas £4145.81now £0.000 -
i suspect your right.0

turns out they have messed up. they should have matched her pay bands. they now owe her 2 1/2 years of wage arrears. thats a nice present. should be around 1 or 2k. do they have to pay interest on it.0
