Hi there, i need some fresh ideas.
We seen on Superscrimpers (and pinterest and google) the new way to make your own garden seating.
I've posted a link a picture of what we want.
We have pallets and can make fabric cushion covers and can probably find old paint to paint the pallets with but
What we're stuck on is a cheap/affordable way to make the cushioning on top!
Had a look at buying foam but was costing £40+
I'm currently keeping an eye out for anyone throwing out an old couch (to use the cushions!) but no one seems to be atm.
Has anyone got any other ideas? Cheap and cheerful please!
Thanks in advance!

Could you ask on Freecycle for old pillows/duvets?'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'
(From Mae Stewart's book 'Dae Yeh Mind Thon Time?')0 -
First a question - do you actually need cushioning?
Secondly Ikea have seat pads from £3 would that do?0 -
Yeah it has to be cushioned. My fault for the misunderstanding as i didn't include a link to the picture like i said i would. The link is below, something like that except a single one instead of a double.
Pallet Chair
I had a loot at the seat pads but while i was on ikea i found something that might do if we don't find anything else, it would be ideal if it was double the size as the seat will be around 100cm x 120cm but if all else fails i'll be going for 2 of these, thanks for the idea!

i shall do that now, funny that would be my first piece of advise to anyone else but i'd never have thought to do it myself, i blame the blonde.
Thank you!0 -
If you want garden seating then why not just use a plank of wood (e.g. a scaffolding plank) or an upturned bucket instead of making a pile of old pallets with a cushion on top?
Maybe I'm just not seeing the inner beauty in that picture. Oh well.0 -

An up turned bucket? I'd genuinely like to know how you could relax in the garden on an upturned bucket. The pallets are a good idea. Cover them with cushioning and I'm sure you could make them perfectly comfortable. And they're big enough to relax on.
I don't see how you could say the same for an upturned bucket.0 -
Hi, how about cotbed or cot mattresses? They are forever on freegle/freecycle as you can't really use them for more than one child. Have a look at sizes as you may find they fit or can cut to size, they are usually 10cm high. Some are foam but some are sprung like proper mattresses. Would be nice to see a pic when you're finished0

I see your point- it's hard to lounge on an upright seat. How about lying on the grass?0 -
I definitely agree with the cot bed mattress idea. Those can be found really easily. Even try up the tip!. We also wanted to do this with pallets. My dad can get some from his work so we are planning to do it. Also will make a few raised bed troughs from pallets to put some pretty plants and maybe grow some more veggies in them! xx
Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!

Yeah a cot bed mattress would do fine too, ill add that to my freecycle listing, hopefully someone will be generous!
Yeah i think the difference between this idea and a bucket is this will hopefully look nice and be comfortable lol
I like the pallet idea and ive seen quite a few that look great (and quite expensive looking if done right). We have no where to sit in the garden as my niece has her playhouse and trampoline taking up the grass and the rest is bark.
I sure will post a picture (if it works out!) Thanks everyone so far0
