looking to buy other share of house

brother and i have probate on parents old house 50% each , he would like to sell his share to me and i would like to buy , no mortgage involved , price agreed. is this something we would need to involve solicitors with and what would be the likely cost or could it be sort between our ourselves , if so which forms would be regd, thanks

    I suspect you could do it yourself, it may be worth having a trawl through the Land Registry site to see if there's any guidance and to look at the forms. But if you want to be sure it's done properly and doesn't cause problems in years to come, spending a few hundred pounds to get it done by a solicitor seems a fairly small price in the grand scheme of things.

    I assume you are the Executers as well as the Beneficiaries?

    It is fairly straightforward to DIY provided you can show the correct forms tothe LR :
    * ID
    * Will
    * Probate
    *+ LR forms

    thanks you both for quick reply and link , yes we are both Executers as well as the Beneficiaries, ill have look a the guide, lets hope theres less forms than when i did the probate , cheers.

    Often there are other issues involved around the deceased's estate that makes using a solicitor the best option but if you decide to do it yourself then the online guidance should be sufficient to explain the way forward.
