Finally got eldest one to eat carrots. He likes them raw and prefers a dip with them. Anyone got a recipe for a dip?0

Lots of ideas for dips, but not sure what you are looking for Spendless.
Depends on what I have in the fridge and just make it up as I go along. Make it from any of the following, or make up a combination.....
Fromage frais/greek yoghourt/creme fraiche/soft cheese/mayonnaise.
Mix up well with a fork or whisk. I tend to add a few drops of lemon juice.
Then add something like chopped spring onion, and/or garlic/ grated or diced cucumber / any spices you like / chopped chillies / tomato sauce / finely diced onion / finely diced peppers / tabasco sauce / worcestershire sauce / curry paste or powder - anything you want really. (I don't advise all these suggestions mixed together at once! ;D )
No idea what age your son is, but a prawn cocktail type dip might be good. Couple of tblsps fromage frais/greek yoghourt, 1 tblsp mayonnaise, few drops lemon juice, 1/2 - 1 tblsp tomato sauce, touch of paprika. Mix well.
If you want something specifically, PM me, or am sure that others have great ideas too.0 -

Hi Cathy
if you can bear sharing a very untidy house with a mad italian woman, a nutter of an englishman and a couple of teenagers ('nuff said), together with two wild ginger kittens, you are very welcome to move in with us!
Having said that, we have now dismantled the famous bunk beds that I was trying to give away (nobody wanted them!) so you will have to sleep on the mattress on the floor!
But of course the compensation would be great company and fab italian cookery. I even have a whole 5lt plastic tank full of Sarsons best white distilled vinegar!
Hope things cheer up for you, best wishes with mum's and old fart's health (and for your sanity)!
Love

Apparently my Dad remembers his Mum telling him that his Granny made bars from porridge oats. Big pot of porridge made with water and salt for breakfast. Anything left was poured into a drawer, left to harden, cut into slices and given to men/children to take to work/school.
Just shows these cereal bars are not a new phenomenom!
My Dad used to get his "piece" to take to school from the porridge drawer. Made me dislike the idea of porridge even more, the thought of eating it cold, yuck0 -
