Good on you Cathy! Looking forward to it organised and all.0

Great idea for the recipe bank Caterina - there are so many good recipes on this board.
Good luck Cathy, and big hugs. Only have one daughter of 17, and know that I will miss her like mad when she flys the nest - except those hormonal teenage days! ::)
I can supply plenty of vegetarian recipes, having been one for well over 20 years, and promise, there won't be a nut roast in sight!0 -
Anne-Marie, nut roast is nice if done sensitively (eg. not 100% nuts a'la 60's-hippy-veggie!
The nut roast paste is very good to stuff mushrooms on Christmas day instead of having a heavy-duty full nut roast!

Does anyone know how to make the cereal bars that you can get ???
I've seen it somewhere but don't think it was on here. Think it might have been an American site but can't remember which.
From what I do remember it basically had recipe then you added cereal of your choice to it eg coco pops, frosties, rice krispies.0 -
never been able to find one myself. will have a look in a few places and let you know.0

I think I have a granola bar recipe somewhere, will look for it and post it when I find it (IF I find it in the mayhem of my house, that is).
While I look, enjoy this one in the link below, it sounds good (but I would substitute white chocolate *YUCK* with good dark Green and Blacks, myself!).

Apparently my Dad remembers his Mum telling him that his Granny made bars from porridge oats. Big pot of porridge made with water and salt for breakfast. Anything left was poured into a drawer, left to harden, cut into slices and given to men/children to take to work/school.
Just shows these cereal bars are not a new phenomenom!0 -
Thanks for the porridge tip. I am always disposing of leftover porridge. I might disguise it with a few chocolate chips to tempt.
Not quite sure I will pour into a drawer though :-/I say what I like, I like what I say!0
