My mortgage adventure

Hello! i've been lurking for a while now, thought i should get writing!

I'm 21 and currently buying my first flat with a mortgage from Nationwide. Four weeks on, i've had the offer accepted, applied for the mortgage and received my written mortgage offer. All going well so far!

I'm on holiday next week (the last one for a while before 35 years of debt!) and then after that dates should be finalised and should be moved in within a month or so, all very exciting.

I've done it through Nationwide's Save to Buy scheme which, so far, has been brilliant.

Thanks! It's been a long time coming (booked it last August) so it should be great, although the temptation to get a Murano glass vase for the new flat might prove too tempting.....

    icon1.gifMy mortgage adventure....

Damn close to an oxymoron there, but it probably depends on your concept of adventure.

Don't forget to pack the Diocalm. ;)

Does this adventure come in installments ?
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

About 400-odd installments of fun! It's all been very calm so far, time will tell as to whether it stays calm or not! I've spent the past year buying lovely overpriced appliances, mirrors and Dysons to keep me going for a while! I could have had a £12 Tesco toaster, but I might have bought an £80 dualit beauty instead...

You're 21 - your whole adult life is in front of you. Don't look at a mortgage as a debt, look at it as a type of rent that eventually stops.
Debt is necessary - without debt you can't live. Accept it, live it, breathe it.

I don't see it as a debt, it just technically is! It's all just very exciting
