help calling all bsm employees

Hi

Hope someone can help me.

My bf was riding to work this morning on his motorbike when a bsm car who was in traffic turned right without looking to go down a no entry rd.

My bf could not stop and hit the side of the car and the car kept moving taking bf still on his bike with it.

My bf mangeged to kept the bike upright and moved it to the side of the road. The bsm car stopped up the road a bit and a van that saw what happened checked on my bf.

My bf took off his helmet to go to the bsm car and when he looked up he had drove off.

As you can understand my bf was in shock and in pain so didn’t get the number plate.

He has reported it to the police but without the number plate they don’t hold out much hope.

I cant believe that a driving instructor turned down a no entry road and didn’t stop at the scene of a accident.

The bsm car did have a lot of damage on the drivers side.

what I need to know is there anyway of tracking down the car/driver.

Where do bsm cars get repaired?

Please help my bf was lucky this time someone else may not be and this guy is teaching people to drive.

Many thanks

    have you tried contacting BSM?
I would have thought they would know the areas each driver could be in, that would narrow things now.

Surely the police must be able to trace, leaving the scene of an accident is a serious offence, the police should follow up, does your boyfriend know the make/colour of the car, if so there can only be a dozen or so cars the police need to check in the area ?

How about hanging around the local test centre looking for damaged cars ? (although I suspect the car will be taken off the road immediately)

Hi - sorry to hear about your bf's accident.

I don't work for BSM but I hope I can help.BSM like most large fleets rely on registration numbers being available so an accident such as this with no reg number available does not fit into their system.

To pursue it further expect a bit of hassle and bureaucracy from them.If your bf has legal expenses cover suggest you ask them to handle it.

Do you have any details of the van driver including tel number and the firm he works for? As an independent witness he could be a great help

The HO of BSM appears to be at:-

    1 Forest Road Feltham TW13 7RR

    Hi

Sorry to hear about your boyfriend and hope he is ok. I agree this is outrageous that someone who is supposed to teach other people the right way to drive should behave like this.

As has been said before, surely the police would have the influence to get the BSM to open up and reveal who operates in your area. For crying out loud, you'd think the BSM would want to know who this is anyway! I should point that out to them!

I would try the police again. I would also put some pressure on the BSM yourself. That stuff about needing the registration number is just a cop out. They MUST know who operates in your area, so it should be possible to narrow it down - even if they won't give you a list of their people, they should want to look into it themselves. Also, I don't see what harm there would be in them telling you, in general terms, where their cars would be repaired, if they have a nominated garage, or if each driver chooses his own.

Maybe you could try threatening them with Watchdog or the local papers or something. After all, this person was acting as a representative of BSM so I don't see how BSM can just wash their hands of it, and any resulting publicity would not be good for their business. Maybe some of the legal bods out there can advise if OP can threaten BSM with some legal action, as this driver was clearly acting as a representative of BSM.

Just a thought, did this happen in an area where there are CCTV cameras?

    Good luck!

Yet again, the police show they can be a complete waste of space. This is a clear case of hit and run ... the fact that you didnt get the car reg shoudlnt matter. How many BSM cars can there be in the local area? Realistically, you shoudl be pushing the police to get the local manager of BSM to check all the local vehicles (and quickly too before the offender gets the car repaired).

I can understand the police saying that they cant do much if it was a random silver Ford Focus but there cant be many BSM cars on the road within a local area!!

Just another thought - maybe the BSM would give you a list of people in your area if you were thinking of getting some driving lessons?

Alternatively, check out your local phone book. Not sure what good it would do, but maybe you could then drive round and see if they happen to have a damaged car on the driveway?

Some good advice here. I contacted a friend of mine who was an AA Driving Instructor, he was aware of each of the other AA franchisees in his area (5 of them in total) so as BSM works on a franchisee scheme they will have the details, and it can't be too hard to place who was where. Time is of the essence, good luck :)

I use to work for BSM, they should have a an area office in the town or nearest big town to where the accident happened, contact the Manager of that office immediately.

If the BSM car had damaged an accident report will have had to have been made out, he will know which car it was and who was driving it at the time, it is possible the driver may not have told him exactly what happened but all damage to cars must be reported as the cars are on lease contracts.

It is not possible for the driver to get the car repaired himself as he would be without a car for several days. It goes back to the local area office and is exchanged the same day for another spare vehicle. If the damage is minor it is repaired at the local Vauxhall main dealer, if extensive it has to go back to BSM's own workshops.

Get onto the Police again and insist they contact the local BSM office to find out who the driver was, it is a hit and run and they should take action.

Could the vehicle have been stolen I wonder? Seems unlikely a BSM instructor would do this *and* drive off. And if a pupil did it I am sure they would hit the dual controls. This is based on what cajef says as surely they have no way of getting out of causing damage to the car and driving off, unless they were a new inexperienced instructor and there is a policy of 'here sign this' when they collect the cars and not really knowing what they should do in the event of an accident.

Most BSM cars are either Corsa's or Astra's. The newest one's have a new design on them which is very orange and circular.

AFAIK this is the second to the most recent design they used but still may be in use depending on how often they renew the cars.
