Does anyone else squeak when they are falling asleep?

I know its an odd one, but I sometimes when I'm falling asleep, I just let out this weird little squeak which wakes me up. :rotfl: Weird I know. I really don't know why I do it. OH just laughs at me. :rotfl:

Anyone else do this?

I'd run that by your GP. My partner does something similar to that (though the noise he makes is *far* too loud to be described as a 'squeak') and he turned out to have a sleep disorder.

Oh dear, I have it too. Mind you, I sometimes wake myself up when I'm snoring if I'm in the car

    I've been Money Tipped!
The sensation of falling and jolting awake when you are about to fall asleep is a hypnic jerk - they're quite common and the shock of it could make you make an involuntary noise as well.

If you squeak without a hypnic jerk I don't what's going on!
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

This line has to be one of the funniest I've read for a long time.

I was going to say I've never heard of this but mentioned it to hubby who informs me I sometimes squeak too

Ye, but not so much a squeak as more of a 'Huh' sound I make, usually if I'm having a quick nap on the sofa. I haven't been aware of doing it when I'm lying down in bed so wondered if it was because of a different position.

  • Hi, Ive been 'squeeking' for a while now, its become more often over the last year, and its usually just as Im dropping off, it wakes me up, and I laugh every time, my OH finds it kinda cute. Im only 5'3 and slight build and have no other sleep 'disorders' snoring sleep walking etc so was just curious to see if I was the only one and found this thread of fellow 'squeekers' lol
