I wouldn't waste your money on more than one. With one of those and being on the electoral roll, in about 6 months you'll have at least a little bit of history and may be able to get a phone contract, or a high APR credit card.

Or a current account that reports would be ideal. Most of the ones issued by major banks do.

So with my NatWest and new prepay CC all I need now is to sort out the electoral roll and wait.

Thanks again you really have helped me. If ever you need to know where to go in Thailand give me a shout!

The terms and conditions for that card only speak in general terms about sharing information with third parties, I can't see anywhere that it says it actually does share info with the CRA's.

It appears to be a simple prepaid card without a 'credit building' feature built in. The thing that makes the cash plus card different is that you pay £5 per month for the privilege of having it report to your credit files.

It seems that the cash plus card is a clever business idea by someone to help people obtain a positive credit report and make them some money off the monthly. So really you are simply 'buying' yourself out.

    Classic win - win.
  • Naivety here but is it worth getting one of these prepaid cards even though I've got a vanquis credit card

Nah. Prepaid credit card are more like precursors to bad credit credit cards. If you've already got a bad credit credit card, there's no need.

Ive just managed to sign up for 12 month SIM only contract on O2 and Three. I needed 2 UK numbers and am guessing this will reflect well in 6 months+ as long as perfectly managed???

Yes :) Both companies report to all three CRA's.

If I run both numbers for say 6 months then close the accounts paying off the remaining balance does that report positive to the CRA's?
