USB Turntable

I am able to listen to vinyl through audacity (thanks to previous responses). However, sound quality is not great (sounds like I'm listening to records through a crisp packet). Is there a simple way of improving sound quality? The USB turntable has red/white leads - is sound quality better through those? And if so, how do I connect to PC?0

Perhaps you need a PreAmp. What the brand name and model?0 -

You could get something like this and connect it to the line in socket of your PC0 -

I would've thought that the USB one should sound pretty decent, but of course it'll only be as good as the PC's speakers.0 -

It's a Tevion P50632 USB Turntable.
Presumably that adaptor has a headphone jack on the end that goes into the PC?0 -
No need to buy anything, on CD or otherwise
After all this faffing about with usb turntables etc you will end up with a track with a lot of clicks and surface noise etc - which becomes quite wearing after a while listening to it so unless its a very rare or unobtainable item is it really worth the hassle ?
Some might even say, since you bought the record you already paid your 'dues' so just download a copy0 -
Hate to say it but it's very unlikely you'll get any decent quality recordings from your turntable, that's why these USB turntables are so cheap compared to any reasonable home audio setup.
I used to convert my vinyl off a Technics SL1200 with a standard Stanton 500AL stylus running through a KAM mixer, and only got satisfactory results, and that was almost £400 worth of kit....0 -

Cheap turntables and cartridges give cheap sound. If you want a quality result, you'll have to pay a quality price.0 -

Exactly this. Proper record deck like one poster mentions abotu the Technice, decent cart and amp.
You should be able to do some decent enough clean up using Audacity itself but there are a few other things out there that you can use.
THIS thread from the Audacity forum has a few good tips to use
And also clean your records before you try and rip them"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0
