To all the people posting smug comments saying it's our fault because we didn't buy in advance/buy in winter/only buy when needed.
Have you stopped being smug long enough to consider people like me, whose fans have broken, and who are on medication which causes them to sweat/have a higher than usual temperature?
Or what about other people, who have young children and elderly relatives who are vulnerable, but haven't had a chance to get a fan as they are caring for them?
Perhaps you could step out of your special bubble where everything is perfect and consider the rest of us 'moaning ninnies' and our circumstances?

While some people may have been unfortunate enough that when they switched on their fan it broke, I suspect that is a minority and most just didn't have a fan.

To me it's as normal to have a fan in the home as a heater and I'm in the N/East of Scotland!

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Well Argos' new catalogue is released on Saturday - so there may be some fans that are in this current one but not listed in the next one - so you can let off Argos a bit for the fan shortage.

I don't understand why people don't have fans already. It's not like we've never had hot weather before.

I have four fans. Granted, I haven't had to use them much in the last couple of years but I knew they would be used again some day!

The hot weather has caught me out in some respects though. I cannot find a decent pair of cropped trousers for love nor money.

I don't understand why you didn't have cropped trousers. Is it that you never had legs before?

I had a fan before this heatwave but it broke. Getting a replacement was hell and it's nowhere near as good (or quiet) as the old one.

Very money saving to buy and fill your home with more fans than you need, some great money saving going on in this thread.
  • I have been trying the usual places for an elderly lady in hospital.
Finally saw a sign today, and went into a hydroponics shop where they have boxes and boxes..and they stock them all year round.

Keep your eye on her fan or it may go walk about. I was in hospital last summer & my sister brought me one of my fans from home to help keep me cool. She was advised to put my name on it in case people assumed it was hospital property.

After my op I was put in intensive care & when a nurse went back to the ward I'd been on to collect my belongings, my fan had completely disappeared. My sister visited that ward on a couple of later occasions to try to track it down as it wasn't a very common type of fan & knew she'd recognize it straight away if she saw it, but some blighter had obviously spirited it away.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
