Hi everyone,
we recently lost our unborn daughter at 36 weeks. We are planning a funeral for her but looking around and enquiring things are so expensive. We are both on DLA and ESA and will really struggle to find this money. I want our daughter to at least have the best i can give her as its the only thing we can do for her. Family and friends have offered a bit but we need a couple of thousand. is there any benefits which we can claim to cover the extra cost . We can't get a loan as i have bad credit .
Any help would be really appreciated thank you xx

I am sorry to hear your news about your daughter.

This will tell you about funeral payments that are available if you are claiming certain benefits.

I am so sorry for your loss :( I can't imagine what you must be going through.

I know when my friends daughter lost her baby a couple of months ago she didn't have to pay any fees to the funeral director or the crematorium as they never charge for babies and children, hope this is the same in your area .:kisses3:

That is so sad, and I;m sorry for your loss.

As has been said, many funeral directors don't charge for their services for children.

I hope you and your family have the strength to get through all this.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If you are entitled to anything from being on benefits then remember it will only cover basic costs - nothing elaborate. Don't set your standards too high or you will be disappointed

Not aware of the funeral directors doing it free aspect - but sounds worth enquiring about.

Don't make any commitments until you know what you can afford

    So sorry for your loss.

My son and his partner lost their unborn son at 22 weeks, the funeral director did not charge anything and they had a lovely graveside service.

Maybe try ringing a local funeral director to see or your maternity hospital may be able to help with advice too.

    Thinking of you xx

Before you get into filling in forms, talk to a funeral director. If you have a local family firm, try them first. Many will do a child's funeral for free.
