Churchill Car Insurance

Hi all

Just wonder if anyone else is having the same issue as me - I have been trying to call churchill for the last four days for well over 30 minutes at a time to change my address on my car insurance policy...

I am never getting through to anyone - has anyone had the same problem or know what is going on? I see on their website they have some rubbish about it being due to the weather!!

Getting very annoyed now, surely this is not "customer service"

  • And when you finally do get through, they'll probably charge you about £25 for the privilege of using the so-called customer service.

I'd leave it all alone until you HAVE to tell them of the change, ie at the renewal, providing you haven't found another company which will be cheaper (and you will).

  • I know, you're right. Surely I have to advise them that I have moved, or I won't get any information when renewal comes (not until January). Not to mention it should legally be updated right?

    Thanks
  • Surely you know when your insurance is due for renewal? If not, buy a diary and put it in there.

Whatever an insurance company will charge you for changing your address could be put towards a Post Office Redirection Service instead, and you will get all the mail at your new address.

  • Yep as stated, it's January...

Perhaps I will just try calling their complaints department, probably get through quicker that way! :)

You NEED to tell them straight away, its a change of risk and would potentially invalidate your insurance if you didnt (particularly for a theft/ vandalism/ hit and run at your home address)

Cant help on their call queuing time. Press says they're shedding many heads so its inevitable that call waiting time would be going up

Try pushing the button for a new quote - that might be even quicker!
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
  • Thank you, I guess I will just have to be patient. In the meantime, I have emailed, so perhaps this will be quicker.

Dont Churchill do the 'online amendments' service now? you have to register/Login but 90% can be done from there.

I had to ring Churchill urgently earlier this week after they wrote to tell me they were cancelling my policy following a rejected DD from my old bank.

I was on hold for 65 minutes before the accounts dept. answered.

As it turned out they apparently hadn't received the change of bank details form I'd sent them two weeks earlier .
  • Just a wee update on this. As I couldn't get through for such a long time, I also sent an email to their complaints department.

Seems it worked. Although after hours and hours of trying at different times and different days, I got someone on the phone who told me they couldn't update my details until closer to the time.

Today, I received a call from customer care explaining they have had staff shortages etc. She updated my details there and then (still 6 days till I move) and overrode a premium increase of around £9. To top it all off, she is sending me a cheque for £10 for my call costs.

    Now THAT'S customer service!
