Possible Red Light Offence - GATSO on other side of road
Hi All,
I understand that previous forums were discussing GATSO forward facing for speed offenses.
However, I am concerned about passing a red light yesterday, after which I realized that there was a RED LIGHT GATSO CAMERA on the other side of the road. It could have caught my number plate easily as I was moving towards it. It was a bright sunny day yesterday and I could not detect any flash.
I came back to the site and found that the sensors wires were also embedded on my side of the road (before and after white stop line), which could have triggered the GATSO on the other side of the road.
However, the GATSO on the other side of the road could not see whether my lights were RED or GREEN, hence there cannot be any evidence for court.
The Streetview for the location is: goo.gl/maps/ZY4vk (you can assume me the black car driving towards the camera on the other side)
Appreciate if I can have your comments. I am very concerned about this, as I am a foreigner on Work permit, and if I am fined, it can jeopardize my extension application in few months.
Last year, I attended a course for crossing a RED LIGHT as well. My license is luckily just over two years old now. If caught, I would definitely get 3 points on my license and a fine of £60 (I guess).
Many thanks for your time and reply (in advance).
Regards,
Benzene (and yes... I know I have made a big and life-threatening mistake!

If you know that why bother to ask?
You obviously intend to go not guilty so if you are the registered keeper it's a aaase of waiting 14 days to see if you were caught.0 -

Well, thanks for your comments. But I am not sure how GATSO would work on this occasion, and thats why I am asking this.
Thanks for your understanding.0 -
The sensors are to change the lights quicker when it detects a car waiting and back again after it has passed.
That is what is so annoying about people who crawl between lights thinking they have "timed it".
No you thick T$$T the sensors detect your car.Be happy...;)0 -
Traffic light cameras only work from the rear, so you won't have been caught on this occasion.0

Red light gatsos are rear facing.
Please be more careful in future.0 -

You may find this site helpful detector loops do change the light when traffic is waiting ,but are also used to operate a camera if a driver jumps a red light these loops are either side of the stop line normally some, other uses of loops are opening doors , lifting car park barriers.0 -
Thanks for all your comments!!
I would wait for 14 days and would get back in case I dont hear from the law.
And yes, I am extremely guilty and committed to get this off me by donating to a road safety charity. I am feeling very bad about this and comitted not to do this again!0 -
Good you dont want to do it again, but youve done it twice in 2 years. Many drivers never have this problem.
But cant change the past, so goodluck in the future.0 -
I speak as someone on 6 points, I do not need criticism and I hold my hands up to my offences, lessons learned and all that, so I hope some of the armchair critics here understand that.
A lot of people here want to have a go at the OP, IMHO he has done the right thing and some of you missed the statement he made about being a foreigner working in the UK and presumably hoping to stay. At least, I hope you missed it and you are not simply showing your xenophobia.
I think the OP deserves praise for his attitude in wanting advice. How many times do we read of severe accidents involving drunken or drugged foreign drivers? This one wants to do right, not only that but his English is much better than some of his detractors. Welcome to Britain OP, may you prosper personally and add to our prosperity as a nation!I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Had he done the right thing and stopped for a red light he wouldn't have posted.;)0
