So ours has gone like this (this is all new to me) so far with Leeds Building society on a new build that they want us in by end of Jan:

    8/12 AIP
11/12 - Full application made (ID checks and Hard search done)
12/12 - Leeds BS request signed letter from father showing his portion of gifted funds.
    14/12 Valuation carried out
15/12 Pack from solicitors has arrived
15/12 Request from Leeds BS for a letter from work with my return to work date (23rd December) and confirmation I am fit to return. (I previously supplied a FIT note signed by doctor)

My worry is I've been off work for 3 months on full pay (only one payslip shows sick pay (long story) but also quietly hoping that this will be approved now they've got the signed letter. Anyone got any experience of this?

    Thanks

    Just an update,

Today the 19th Dec we got our morgage offer, absolutely over the moon. It's a horrible feeling waiting for it but now the excitement begins! :j

P.S. I've been impressed with how efficient Leeds Building society have been and they fell well within the two day lead times.
  • I cannot stand this waiting!! ! mortgage advisor said nationwide have asked for 3 documents, and have approved two of them. They were checking my husbands pay slip and then mortgage advisor said they may issue confirm mortgage subject to valuation . ..and then Christmas happened! Can't handle this waiting, just want to know if it is approved! What would they be checking on hubs pay slip?
  • Hi there,
    Joining the waiting.
We made an application on 15th of December with Nationwide. The valuation was booked for 21.12 and we don't have any news yet.
The broker is going to be at work tomorrow. I am a bit worried as my husband was trying to buy something from internet over the Christmas period but it turn out the website was fake (be careful with facebook ads) so he had to call the bank and block his card so they can't use his imformation in the future
He now has a new one. Didn't receive it yet. Do you think that can affect our application in anyway?
We didn't heard anything about the valuation either. Don't know if it was done or not.
  • Kezzgirl, they are looking for your name and thr name of the employer. They have ti match with your ID and the name of the company in your bank statments.
They are looking also if thr amount is rigt and if is the latest payslip
  • Kezzygirl they are looking if the name of the person match with the one on the ID. If the company is the same like in the bank statement/s. The date, if is the latest payslip and the amount, if is the same like you said.
  • Thanks. I see you have applied to nationwide too!! Our valuation isn't until 9th Jan.. ..just wished we knew either way. Did nationwide issue you mortgage subject to valuation?

Applications are either accepted or declined. The property has to provide adequate security for the money to be advanced. Once all boxes have been ticked , then a mortgage offer will be made.
  • Don't think so. Today we received a msg from Nationwide. The report from the valuation was received and accepted. Not sure if they got my partners middle name right so that my slow down the process for us.
On their website is written that it takes 48h to receive an offer after approving the valuation.
  • Not correct timeline in my previous msg.
Is not 48hours but more. Hard creditcheck was done on us yesterday or the day before. I checked on Experian.

HSBC were great for me. Mortgage was approved subject to valuation within 48 hours of submitting the application.

I did have a substantial deposit (30%), was not borrowing the maximum amount available and dont have any other debts all of which are likely to have assisted with the speed of the approval process.

Survey was arranged quickly albeit the homebuyer report tool 10 days to be sent to me. Bank only needed the valuation which was sent to them by the surveyor on the day of the survey.
