capital gains tax

Hey there all you clever people!

I had a note last night from tax people saying that i MAY have sold a house that is subject to capital gains tax recently and i needed to get in contact with them to check as i might i owe them money.

Has anyone else had such a thing?
Should i be worried?

The last time i sold a house was 7 years ago for about £220k and it was my main dwelling. I thought i paid all the fees that were due to me then???

Thanks

HMRC are checking up on this,

but the technique has to be a pretty broad brush

If they sweep up a few people wrongly, those people are going to have to tell them

unfortunately, you are one of these people

They're just fishing to see who bites.

Ignore them and they'll move on to someone else.
