i my elderly father has sky and it's costing him an absolute fortune which he can ill afford. he has a tv with freeview channels and i'm hoping i can get him off sky+ to another simple platform which he can use to record tv or watch it on demand. as far as i can see the only thing he'll miss by ditching sky is sky sports. he only watches sky sports for rugby and test cricket and maybe golf. although i see today golf is on a bbc channel... is it possible to subscribe to sky sports on say youview? he can't get virgin as there's no cable anywhere near him. i don't subscribe to any digital tv and so i'm ill-informed. i've had a dekko at a thread a few lines down about ditching sky which i found useful, but before going further i'd like to knwo if he can watch rugby or cricket on another channel?
thanks for any reply

You can get it via Now TV.
Its available on various platforms including YouView.

Dad will need an internet connection, etc.

its pretty expensive on nowtv thou.
not only do you have to pay £15/month for it, but you also need to buy day passes at £10 per day for the sports.
There are promotions and such that will allow you access fairly cheap, but they are limited.
you can also get sky sports on Virgin, but it'll end up costing you the same as sky anyways0 -
In which case, listen to sports on Talk Sport or Five Live.:D better pictures on the radio. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
