Car crash, is it even worth claiming?

Just had a small collision.
I was driving up a hill, woman who was parked on the right hand side of the road pulled out from parked, I presume, no indicator and we have collided.
Damage to my car is drivers side bumper scratched and a bit dented, wing dented and when I drove it home it was making a knocking sound when I turned corners and went over bumps,
Car is a 1999 Fiesta, I give £300 for it.
I am asking the question because I only got this car about a month ago as my last one got nicked, so I have already lost 2 years NCD for the theft plus I wont get one for this year, and if the insurance company put it down to split liability then I lose it all, plus have to put it down as a fault claim.
I am very inconvenienced without a car but I'm wondering wether its all bloody worth it.
My car is basically a write off.

If you claim, your car will almost certainly be written off, you will have to pay your excess and the remainder of the premium if paying by instalment, and lose NCD, unless the other side are held 100% liable.

(If the other side claim, and you are held even partly to blame, then you will still have a fault claim against you and lose NCD over this.)

You still have to report the accident to your insurance company regardless of you thoughts on claiming. It will probably classed 50/50 so you are likely to lose your n.c.d.

    Thanks.
I called her insurance company and she has already lodged it with them, but they wouldn't tell me any details.
Will call mine tomorrow and see what they say, feel like just giving up driving, cant see how it's my fault seeing as she pulled out on me but I know what insurance companies are like.
    :(

If you have legal cover then use it they will try to fight your corner. Also allot of insurance companies have a 24 hour accident line. The sooner you report the better.

You don't need to have legal cover to "fight" for you.

Your insurer will contest liability if it is disputed as part of their claim liability resolution.

I agree but you can see this getting a little messy

In your OP you did say you may end up with split liability.
....if the insurance company put it down to split liability then I lose it all, plus have to put it down as a fault claim.....

    Why do you think that??

    Why do you think that??
Because I have had that happen before and know insurance companies are not exactly fair.

If there are conflicting stories and no witnesses no-one knows who is telling the truth. Hence some end up as split liability.

But you say the damage will confirm the way this happened??
