BTTV without Infinity broadband

Options
Situation is my husband cancelled our Sky earlier this year as we couldn't afford it (had the Entertainment Plus package). They kept ringing to try and persuade us to go back finally offering us the package we were on free for 6 months so we went for it. When the 6 months is up, I don't think we'll be able to afford the £30ish that the package will cost so I'm looking at BTTV. Getting the BTTV would also solve the problem we currently have of not being able to record programs (TV only has one SCART socket and we couldn't get the set up with the SCART block to enable recording, we use the 'on demand' for the channels of anything we really want to watch).

The biggest problem I can see is that although we have broadband at decent speed (iPlayer works well), not having the infinity in our area is going to restrict what channels we can get. I've checked the website to see if/when Infinity is coming to our area and it's 'Under Evaluation', this is in a town with population of 6'000. The channels we would like are mostly the Discovery channels (food ones, home & health) and documentary programs (mainly History & National Geographic).

I'm finding it hard to find the reliable list of which channels we can get, I think that to get the channels we want, we need the unlimited option. We would also like to be able to get the channels we want via on demand rather than watch live.

No cable in our area either.

Thanks to anyone who can either tell me which channels you can get on BTTV or can provide the link.

If you discount the online catch up and premium services BT Vision is Freeview.

If you want a non subscription service with catch up and recording then maybe YouView. However as with BT Vision you will need a Freeview capable aerial.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Hi Cate1976,

Sorry to tell you the broadcast channels are only available via fibre. TalkTalk's YouView ADSL (copper broadband) services would be an option for you though, if you can get a line speed of 6Mbps.
