If it is built into the tenancy agreement, there is no need to inform of anything.
If the tenancy agreement has nothing about rent increases, then the only way the landlord can force a rent increase is via a Sec 13 notice.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
Is there anything specific that need sto be in the agreement about rent increases? Ours just says that the rent will be reviewed annually. BUt not how , against what etc.
Do you have to actually agree to the increase? What would happen if you just continued paying the same amount as in the original rent agreement. How would the landlord prove that the rent has increased, surely there must be some kind of 'in writing' requirement.0 -

It will take at least 3 months to evict you (unless you decide to leave)
2. Rent
Rent increases (how and when can rent be changed)
If you start to pay the new rent, you've agreed. Do not do this.0 -
What? She quite possibly has finance issues, if this and her high house price is anything to go by, but this is quite cheeky. She's asking you for a favour by staying as long as possible (and not caring about you because she wants you out when she sells), and for the privilege you are being charged more!
Don't take it.
My thoughts exactly! She is cheeky as hell and has been since day one. The tenant next door gave their notice this month which is why she probably what more rent from us.
She has been saying for months that increased costs is making it not worth renting out.
The house is one house which as been split into two (a one bed house & a 2 bed house) as such the bills are included in the rent. Between the two of us we pay £1200 pcm. Now her mortage repayments are £265 pcm so I am not sure why she can not at least break even!
Like I said had we not begun the process of buying our own place I would have been looking for somewhere else but it all seems like bad timing.FTB
