There is a very simple way around that one. Just register it in my husband's name. The only reason it's registered in my name right now is because I called them and not him! LOL

    Simples!

I'm surprised everyone doesn't just register their utilty accounts in the name of David Cameron.
I'm amazed the utilty comnpanies haven't put measures in place to stop this.

    Oh, hang on ...

    Really?

You didn't make any mention of having previous tenants names on your bill in either of the two threads you created yesterday over your issue:

I am fairly sure they meant they also had 600 arrears and are moving.

Not the cause was the same .. But the end result is.

I doubt why arrears are there at the time of moving is the problem .. more the fact that there are arrears is the problem for both.

Nobody seems to be disputing in either case that the money is owed.

Good luck in your move op

Cheers for that! In the end it panned out. Still trying to thrash a payment plan out with them. When I was back in the old house they could charge me whatever they wanted (namely a DD for between £220-£290pcm) because they refused to let me switch. Now I don't have to pay a monthly bill with them they can no longer do that to me. Let's hope they stop rejecting offers soon eh!!

Hope the other lady solved her issues!

If you don't offer an amount that is acceptable to them you will find a DCA and possibly baliffs on you back for full payment. As you are no longer their customer you have less protection.
