NPOWER and moving house - need advice!!

Hi Guys,
Ok need a bit of advice. I am currently with NPower for both gas and electric and pay £65.00 every month by direct debit. I rang them today and gave them up to date readings and it turns out i owe them £600.00 as obviously not been paying enough on the DD. Anyway i have just bought my first house and i am due to complete and move next month. there is no way that i would be able to afford to pay npower the 600quid balance (final bill would probably be more than this) so what will happen when i move? will they demand full payment or will they transfer it to my new house? Help from an NPOWER spokesperson would be very grateful!

No, you can't transfer an account to a new house-you will initially be in a deemed contract at the new house with the existing suppliers.
If you can't pay the full amount due in one hit then you'll have to negotiate a repyment schedule with nPower.
You should be submitting reads every 3 months to avoid this scenario. £65pm isn't nearly enough for a typical property with gas CH and DHW.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

They'll demand full payment (but you might be able to agree to spread this say over 3 months)
If you are moving out of a rented property, you'll (hopefully) be getting your security deposit back. Perhaps you could use that0 -
They may demand it but if you haven't got it you haven't got it. Look to agree a repayment plan over the same time it accrued in, it is ultimately their job to read the meters & bill your account accurately, it's not your legal obligation at all, reading meters for them is just a goodwill thing!
Being with another supplier can only be to your advantage - as they can't cut you off or fit a PPM if they don't supply you & a court case wouldn't achieve anything if you genuinely haven't got the cash other than by installments0 -
