As you say the boiler has been off for 2 days and the pipes are still hot, do you know if the immersion heater is still ON?

Thats usually fitted on the top of the cylinder and has a wire coming out of it, the wire should go to a switch very close by, try switching that OFF, and then run some water off from the taps and see if it cools down?

It is possible that is the problem, IF the thermostat inside the immersion is knacked and stuck in the ON position!!!

This would also have a heat transfer effect to the heating pipes and explain why they are hot!

I know you have said the immersion was off also, BUT, something must be on for the water to get hot!

OP was asked very early on to make sure that was the case by flipping the breaker for it at the consumer unit.) Don't know if that has been done.

Quite and by a later posting the pipes leading to an away from the pump are now hot too. I think the boiler is running meself.

    Cheers

As a 5' nothing lady with a wobbly knee, lol, its not easy for me to get into the loft and then start poking about at things i havnt got a clue
Where in the country are you - roughly? Perhaps one of us here if close enough would be happy to spring over and have a boo at it for you. Alternatively may bbe able to recommend a competant mate local to you.
about but after two days of having the boiler switched off and not using any hot water the pipes are still hot running to and from the pump in the ac.
Having the Immersion Heater on might account for this as Ted has suggested but I'm a little sceptical. However, you haven't confirmed that the IH circuit has been isolated at the Consumer Unit which would be the surest way of ensuring that it was off as suggested right at the top of the thread.
I dont think the pump is running as i cant hear it or feel it vibrating at all, so how would i turn the pump down, and am i likely to be doing more harm than good in trying it?
The suggestion of turning the pump sped down is one solution to a problem called pumping over. I'd leave it well alone for the moment because we haven't actually established whether or not you have that problem.
No, i dont think the plumber checked the f and e tank, if thats the tank in the loft he definately didnt go there.
He wouldn't have need to if it was only the head he changed.

I havnt got any solar panels so i just cant work out why pipes are still hot.[/QUOTE]Neither can we at the present time. :D

    Cheers
