In This Hot Weather A Reminder To Always Kit Up On Your Bike
Options
I got this sent to my facebook page. I thought it was a hard hitting way or reminding riders to kit up even for a short journey.
And to those numpties I see riding bikes and scooters in shorts, and no shirts, think again.

I've seen my kneecap so don't need a reminder. It's great that she's back on a bike. She's got balls (not literally, hopefully)0

last year I came off my bike and slid 150 ft up the road, a couple of bruises and no roadrash or cuts at all.
proper kit saved me

Indeed... Not that I'm one to judge, but the amount of people I see riding around in shorts and tshirt beggars belief.
After a minor off, even with some dragging jeans my knees looked like someone had taken a meat cleaver to them... I dread to think what it would has be been like with just shorts.
Although I don't suit up all the time, if it's not full gear it's sturdy jeans, work boots, textile bike jacket, gloves and helmet.
You might sweat like a pig at an abbotoir in this weather, but all it takes is one numpty and you're going down, and they are out in droves in this sun, earlier on my short ride, just a few miles to tesco I had no less than 5 people trying to kill me.0 -
I have decent summer gear and don't sweat to death - even on the commute into central London. If anyone is looking at a summer jacket I can't recommend the Spada Air Pro highly enough. It's the mutt's nuts in hot weather.0

I just wince when I see people in thinner clothing on motorbikes as it's going to be very painful if they come off, I always wore my full motorbike gear when on the bike and would never consider anything less. I remember when I was over in Montana I saw Suzuki GSX-R and the male rider was wearing just shorts and flip flops while the lady riding pillion only had a bikini top, shorts and flip flops (no helmets, gloves or anything else)...what a mess they would have been in if they came off that bike, sadly I hardly saw any riders with helmets never mind any other protective gear.

I must admit to being guilty of riding in jeans and a bike jacket in the hot weather and it's a gamble as I've been off a few times too. Not only coming off but those stones that hit your leg at 100mph really hurt. Saw a young girl slide off her scooter on a roundabout that had a bit of diesel on it. Silly flip flop type shoes and 3/4 length plasticy trousers. Nasty mess.0

Eddie,
Try Draggin Jeans. Stuff like that can even have CE armour in it but much cooler than leathers.
This link has been doing the rounds on bike forums for a few weeks but still seeing people out with tshirts and shorts on.
Each to their own of course but it's the families and emergency services that have to mop up the damage that people forget about. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
There's been a lot about this on our local towns Facebook page, a lot of idiots posting "my skin, my choice" unfortunately the people who have to deal with the aftermath don't have a choice, they also fail to understand the burden they then put on an already struggling NHS.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Maybe its just a coincidence but I've also observed since the hot weather hit some of these idiots are not only wearing shirts and t shirts, but are also taking many more risks when overtaking. I've seen a number of near misses around bends recently and fear that one time a motorist is going to swerve or something and lose control of his/her car or worse in to another car.0
