kitchen/dining/utility

Hi, hoping for some opinions!
Basically, I like the idea of knocking the kitchen and utility into one, while DH would like to keep them separate.
Either way, both kitchen and utility rooms will be getting replaced, hence needing to decide fairly soon!
I currently have a reasonable sized kitchen, approx. 3m x 3.5m, with a utility room off it, 3m x 1.5m. It'd be quite straightforward to knock into one larger room, but should we?
We already have a dining room (accessed from the hall and lounge, 4m x 4m) so don't particularly need dining space, but I like eating in the kitchen, especially for keeping an eye on the kids etc.
We'll be in the house for the next 5-10 years I would imagine, so this is a medium term decision.
Would appreciate any thoughts. Never had a separate kitchen/utility before, so not sure of other peoples opinions (all open plan before).
Thanks in advance

I'd keep them separate - I have a little room off the kitchen with a washer, freezer and tumble drier, it's useful to be able to throw the laundry in and other stuff out of the way.0

Keep them seperate, hate seeing washing machines in a kitchen.0

I actually dream of having a separate utility room

I'd keep them separate too.0

Separate. I love my utility room, it's great having somewhere out of the way to air washing, store cleaning stuff etc.0

dh will be delighted at not having to knock walls down! Slightly pained that i may have to admit that he was right in this one! It is nice being able to shut the door on the noisy washing machine though...........
Well, much as I think for me personally the knocking through would be good, it is less hassle to keep it as is and just put new units etc in.
Appreciate the opinions, much as I want our house to work for us, I don't want to make it less desirable I the future, and as I don't think this is 'forever' house, I wouldn't want to put other off!0 -

You're not interested, or maybe you are.;););)
You've become my very own net stalker today.:eek::eek:0 -
You don't have to see it though, they can be hidden.Keep them seperate, hate seeing washing machines in a kitchen.
I lost my utility when moving a kitchen and changing rooms around in my previous house. It obviously didn't affect the sale of the house as it sold without going on the market.
I would knock the wall down. 3 m sq is a small kitchen in my book and larger kitchens are more popular. You don't have to have the washing machine on when you're in there. How much time do you spend in a kitchen really? If you have a dishwasher they are fairly noisy too but they are normally in the kitchen.0
