Flight delay from USA to EU ( UK)

Options
Hi
Can anyone help me? We had a flight from Atlanta Delta Airlines
In 2009 , which we had problems , due to nobody explaining where we should go to etc , there was 6 of us and we lost one member, who actually made it up to boarding . As the rest of us not knowing where he was went to check in , the lost member had got his family members passports, staff were unhelpful using tanoy calls that was not reaching, when we kept asking for them to ring boarding,
The missing member was asking the same questions, when he noticed staff selling our tickets , knowing we were in the airport trying to get home.
Due to this , we could not check in, and our flight , as we were told had closed to leave. So we had to go and make alternate arrangements . As we arrived at customer service , we were told of no flights until following day, when another lady said our flight was delayed due to faults, she was told to shut up,
As for this everything was closing, we had no money and no where to go , eventually our missing party turned up angry .
Explaining the situation , we went back to customer services where new lady on shift cancelled new flights and put us on our delayed flight as it had not left, disgusted at the service we had recieved .
We had been delayed over 5 hours no food or drink , I'm disabled and was in crucial pain ,
We were flying back to the Uk which is in the EU , do we qualify for compensation? I already tried following the past programme , but as you can guess refused ,
1 saying passengers didn't have passport when went to check in ,
2 not in the EU area
Many thanks

To qualify for compensation under the EU regs you have to check in on time - you didn't.

Had you done so you would probably have qualified - but US airlines are very difficult in this respect

I don't think you are due anything. Sorry
  • Thank you , I thought so , with Eu flight , my friend was unsure x
