I take it cars don't park on it though?

They've got the right idea where my brother lives. A truck comes by and any motorbikes parked on the pavements are picked up and impounded until the fine is paid. He's been caught once and learnt his lesson already.

How exactly is that legal?? I think you'll find that's theft.

My brother lives in Taiwan. It's no different to towing an illegally parked car in this country.

(sigh) this reminds me of my 1st 2 wheeled parking ticket.

I had popped in the big nearby town on a Wednesday afternoon get one item. On getting there I realized it was early closing and everything appeared to be closed... put the moped on it's prop stand on a wide piece of pavement next to some waste ground, not even a main thoroughfare and walked 20m to peep into the shopping street to double check everything was really closed... it was, town totally deserted, not a soul. Except for the pair of traffic wardens who were now walking away from my moped having left a ticket...

Do you even know what theft is?

I'll agree that technically it's a twoc but where is the intent to permanently deprive?

I read that from a solicitor on the web, how can they be wrong?

Erm, because people often lie about who they are online - very likely not a solicitor in 'real life'.

p.s. sorry but 43 year old ladies look silly on motorbikes, nothing personal
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!

Now if you had covered your bike and reg plate the officer could not of issued a ticket as they would not of been able to see your reg plate, therefore it would of been wrong for them as this is classed as vehicle tampering (this is on the web and others have told me this).

Hi Pink, it is now no longer the case that just covering up the vrn is enough as the parking attendants can now just lift any covering up to see the number plate. it was changed a few years back due to the number of bikes now parking in major towns.

Well, I've just been down to Robin Park, used my motorbike due to the weather and ease of access. Like many motorcyclists you choose a safe place to park your bike, out of harms way and car doors, also with the heat of the day, 29 deg today, i wanted to park as close as possible to the travel agent so i didn't need to walk far with all my heavy , hot bike gear on, I had parked under a tree on one of the central pathways that run through the car park, not obstructing anybody or anything, nice and tight up to the bushes, when riding into the car park there are no clear signs that there are motorcycle bays available anywhere thus I chose my own "safe" place. The ticket was stuck to my seat when I returned, £60 !!

I'm just wondering now if the law has changed recently? alot of the advice I can find is quite old, also my offence was " not parking in a bay " but theres no clear signs for motorcycle parking.

your thoughts please if you could.

You would have got decent advice about this scam fake PCN if you'd posted this on the parking forum at the time...start reading the current threads now your thread is ion the right place. Challenge it - without saying who was riding the bike - and win it at POPLA.

Simple when you post on the right forum board! What PPC was it, which company? Was it Robin Park Wigan...and the scammers were who?

Interesting but if yours was a Penalty Charge it's not relevant to a thread about a FAKE PCN from a private company...
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
