Well, I've just been down to Robin Park, used my motorbike due to the weather and ease of access. Like many motorcyclists you choose a safe place to park your bike, out of harms way and car doors, also with the heat of the day, 29 deg today, i wanted to park as close as possible to the travel agent so i didn't need to walk far with all my heavy , hot bike gear on, I had parked under a tree on one of the central pathways that run through the car park, not obstructing anybody or anything, nice and tight up to the bushes, when riding into the car park there are no clear signs that there are motorcycle bays available anywhere thus I chose my own "safe" place. The ticket was stuck to my seat when I returned, £60 !!

I'm just wondering now if the law has changed recently? alot of the advice I can find is quite old, also my offence was " not parking in a bay " but theres no clear signs for motorcycle parking.

your thoughts please if you could.

Im sure this is not right, there is no place on a motorbike to put a penalty ticket or a pay and display ticket. They are easy for others to remove. i would definately appeal. Now if you had covered your bike and reg plate the officer could not of issued a ticket as they would not of been able to see your reg plate, therefore it would of been wrong for them as this is classed as vehicle tampering (this is on the web and others have told me this).

Robin Park - where? A collection of motorbikes on a retail park hint to being anti social, people are intimidated by this, it hints of anti social behaviour due to to club clans; that refers to the Hells Angels // Mods vs Rockers.....you made this scenario, you fix it, by possibly going into schools? Field outings? Whatever!!!!!!

I suggest you read OP's post again, he was on his own not with a collection as you put it.

The ticket was for obstruction and not failing to display a ticket.

If they had uncovered the number plate what would the op do about it?

Why do I need to read it again, I understood what OP had done. Again you cannot put a pay and display ticket on a motorbike.

OP could appeal as I quoted before it is vehicle tampering, I read that from a solicitor on the web, how can they be wrong? and anyway its irrelevant because OP had not covered his bike, i was merely saying if that was the case.

That's irrelevant as that wasn't what the ticket was for.;)

Hi, I believe it is CMS, it's not a police or council ticket.

To the poster who commented about blocking the path, I appreciate your comment, but picture if you can very wide ( 15ft ) pathways running across the centre of the car park, I was parked parallel to the edge against the bushes ... Could've driven a car past me and still had room ... Hardly a 4 ft wide pavement .

    Thanks

I take it cars don't park on it though?

They've got the right idea where my brother lives. A truck comes by and any motorbikes parked on the pavements are picked up and impounded until the fine is paid. He's been caught once and learnt his lesson already.

is well known for being sticklers on parking ..... just on / over a line ..... , not quite in a bay .... ect.

The car park is never full (except on match days) and there have been several local rag stories on this. Over the recent past several closures in the retail units have occurred .... related ???

The ones I generally see guilty of this are new plate cars, so no one can park near their doors and possibly ding them.

There's a Sainsburys by me that's undergone a refit and they've put double lines between each space to give more room to get out of your car. Amazes me how everyone seems to be able to park perfectly there.
