It may imply that UK is UK but when you go to find out exact prices you find that it's alot more expensive to certain parts of the UK! Not channel islands.0 -

I've tried the royal mail website and the cheapest it'll give me is the quote that I've already got for £28.50. I know that the web-site says that it includes uk apart from the channel islands but it won't give me a quote for this. All I can do is parcelforce by the looks of things. Unless there is some other reason why the cheaper standard parcels option isn't coming up? It says I can have it for £10.57 but when I put the postcode in that option is gone. Leaving the cheapest at £28.50.

Not sure if that link will work for you, if not try postcodes bn43 5hh to HS2 9PS so you can see what I can see.
Does this mean that the cheaper options are not available?
10.67 is the price for standard parcels anywhere in the uk for 7kg, except channel Isles.
The only option on the link for Royalmail standard parcles is tp buy and print,,,,,
the parcelforce one has find out exact price, that then needs a postcode.
Different services from differnt businesses (though under the same umbrella, IYKWIM)

PS trust me ...... I work in a Post office!!!!0 -
Thanks,
I was clicking on the get exact price for the parcelforce 48 service, which them came up with other options but not the one I wanted or at the price it quoted earlier! I was assuming that if the standard service was available then it would have come up but I guess only parcelforce ones come up there.
So so I just buy on-line and someone picks it up or do I take it to my local post office and buy there?0 -
Best to take it to the PO ....... you can buy the postage on line (you still have to take it to PO yourself!!) if you wnat BUT if you put it through the system and have a COP with the postcode on it then to the whole lot at the PO!!
Thats exactly what I will be doing this week....my huge parcel finishes tonight!:D I shall have to organize a lift to work!0 -

So basically just take it to the post office like I do the rest of my stuff and it'll cost me £10.57 or whatever it was and I'll get proof of postage.0 -

Know in advance what service you want..I find some post offices sometimes forget the lesser used services and go straight for the more usual, dearer options. Apologies if I have offended any PO workers, but that happens to me a bit at the post offices I use. I'll ask for 'parcel' or whatever and they'll say it has to go 1st class due to weight, and when I query they have to go and get a leaflet and then they'll check on their screens and send it the way I calculated was cheapest.
Also retain your receipt and certificate of posting..you'll need them to claim against the Royal mail if your item fails to arrive. Also make sure that the service you have chosen has sufficient insurance cover, I can't remember what you said value of the item was...but always worth double checking the limits for basic insurance on the different services.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks,
Standard insurance should be enough, it's a few quid short but that doesn't matter, chances of it going missing are slim, hopefully!0
