That does cause problems though. Any comp that is posted incorrectly and not corrected, in spite of the correct way being pointed out is removed from the board. If the comp is later then posted correctly, anyone that entered from the incorrect post may well duplicate their entry.

I just think the people who post like that are self promoting. If they used the forum they'd see that EVERY comp starts like E: 27/07 etc; so clearly they don't use the forum. So the only reason they have to post is to SP. Maybe I'm cynical, but when I see (for example) a bizzimummy thread it's always a brand new member who vanishes as soon as they've posted and it's posted wrong.

I agree Maineblue, the genuine newbies who make an error are easy to spot and point (gently) in the right direction, it's the blatant self promoters that cause the problems

On a slightly more serious note I think a large number of "newbies" arrive on the forum when comping gets featured in the MSE weekly e-mail and they rush in a bit rather than spend time browsing around as they might have done if they had just stumbled across the forum (as I did years ago). (That's not to say there isn't lots of annoying self-promotion)

Hallelujah!! Don't you dare stop posting Ren. Another thread started deliberately to belittle new members. Constant insulting, constant starting of threads to insult other members when your bored. Anyone read the rules that state no copy pasting of copyright text or many other rules that long time members break on a daily basis? Plenty of rules being broken all the time by many comp posters. Should we all now continually report when pages full of pasted T&C are posted? Or whole comp text including images from other sites? POT KETTLE BLACK. The morality of some members here is highly suspect on a daily basis and swings constantly to fit in with what some want, so stop belittling new members constantly. This board is getting a reputation for it.

This is another putting down on new members that needs reporting and it has been. For gods sake people get a grip!!

I did wonder where you were heading after I read this.

I wasn't sure if you meant members reading other comp portals eg Prizefinder & posting comps found there to here.I now understand that its more of a copyright issue re MSE posts.
I suppose MSE could receive quite a few reports re breaches of the rules posted in places such as here & here.
I think MSE have taken a somewhat "laissez-faire" attitude to the copyright & hotlinking issue as evidenced by such as this.
MSE admin themselves often add text from comp sites eg:

As evidenced in my general posting style I favour just posting the relevant bits & not great chunks of text as a rule.I do not hotlink piccys either but will accept that the piccy is still the owners piccy.
I've no wish to defend the rights or wrongs of newbies posting conduct as in general I think most members give them a great deal of help,I know that I do.
The other stuff I will leave with you & carry on myself as before.
The written word can be so easily taken wrongly & spats ensue though so we must all be careful.

Thanks weeowens, as a relative newbie I have found the forum helpful and informative . You have been a great deal of help with your replies and postings THANKYOU! I am not going to give my opinion on the original post I think most things have been said.. but that doesn't mean I have found the post acceptable - far from it. I will continue to use the forum as it has been intended for - COMPS, and enjoy the 'company' of fellow compers from whatever background or walk of life who go out of their way to provide such wonderful comps. THANKYOU ALL very much:)
