Is it not just common sense....?

I'm sorry but sometimes I find myself tutting, particulary at newbies....Why - because so many post up a comp with no end date, no details of types of comp etc.

Now I very much doubt a newbie will just sign up and immediately post up a comp without having looked at the comp board or entered some of the comps - so why leave out obvious things like the end date???? Can't they see that almost every post on the comp board has a title beginning with E:**/** I'm sorry but isn't it just simple common sense - to add the end date when all the other comps listed have them!?

It is, another that joined today, posted without a date and logged off immediately.

It's not rocket science is it? There was one the other day that posted incorrectly, when you check their profile, on the day that they joined they posted 10 congrats in the IWIWIW thread, presumably so that they could post a link, then posted a comp (wrongly). Since then they've posted 3 more comps for the same company (all wrongly). All were removed and in spite of another member posting that they'd sent a PM, nothing.

I get the impression from some of the newbies that we're asking them to amend the dates just to be awkward. They don't realise how the forum works so they can't understand why we're asking them.

I've also noticed that some regulars are so quick with their response of "can you please amend the end date" that they don't say WHY this should be done. Plus, I've read a few "can you amend the end date" posts where even I'VE been confused over how the post is written, so how's a newbie gonna understand?

And maybe some of the very savvy newbie posters understand that their post will be bumped and maybe get even more views.

The problem is that if you don't get in quick, someone will inevitably post the link in the 2nd post so the request to amend the date drops down to the 3rd post and has even less chance of being seen by the OP.

I get your point, but if the post doesn't make sense then there's no point in it being there.

Agree that some could be better explained. I generally just say that the post will be removed if it doesn't look like all of the others and say to Click Edit then Go Advanced to do it, with a line showing the correct header that they can copy and paste if they want to.

BUT why do they not add an end date!!!!???? Surely they must see that every comp posted has an end date so why oh why do they not think to themselves 'I will add an end date too!' DOH BANG BANG!

Fair enough if they are new and cannot post a link - I can forgive them for that as someone will always come along and add it for them but why not add an end date or even they comp type? Most of the regular posters will add on FB or TW or Rafflecopter but the newbies leave out everything at the moment! I just don't understand how they can lack so much common sense! Beats me!

It is like saying to a newbie 'add your idea to the following list...'

    strawberries and cream
    strawberries and ice cream
    strawberries and sorbet
    strawberries and cake
    strawberries and jelly....

And the newbie adding 'blueberries and custard' !!!!!!

    DOH DOH DOH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There's one person who keeps adding the end date at the end of the title.
Beats me why they're doing that.

The most annoying ones are those who've been told time and time again, but still post without an end date.
