Moving from BT to Virgin - £30 charge

Is it possible to leave BT without paying this charge for the broadband to be disconnected?
I am out of contract with BT and have arranged with Virgin to move my services over to them (Broadband, phone & TV). On phoning BT to cancel I was told not to do this by phone as I'd be charged, but that the new provider would contact BT directly. However, I've just received notification from BT that they've been contacted about my intent to change supplier, and this states that I will still have to pay a £30 fee for the broadband to be disconnected. Can this be right?

Yes its perfectly normal.
If you were moving to a non cable ISP then they would pick up the charge. Virgin do not.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
