Anyone else having trouble with Santander?

Hi,

I've recently been trying to set up a Santander account - as I've been told by loads of people that it's the best - but applying online is proving to be a nightmare.

Everytime I send in supporting documents someone emails me and says I've taken too long - this has happened twice! - and I sent them in the same week!

Is anyone else having problems?

Estelle

they are a nightmware for getting through the identification verification process.

On 3rd attempt now. The ISA was 3% when I started applying, gone down twice to 2.3% now.

Why do you think they have been in the top 3 of the most complained about bank brands for the last few years? Mainly at number 1 though Barclays currently holds that honour.

In branch is the easiest though I even had to go in 3 times because the first time the person I "had" to see had been called out, the second time they did it but the back office claimed never to receive them and the third time it was received but took a couple of weeks.

You can hardly blame a bank if the data you use in your application doesn't match your electoral roll entry and/or your credit files.

I have 3 123s, 1 123 CC, 3 esavers and one ISA with Santander, all applied for online. They never asked me for any ID since they could find me ok on ER/CRA files.
  • Hi Everyone,

It's probably a little bit my fault as well but the thought of filling in that form again made me need a rant!

Technology seems to have taken over my life - I'll go into a branch and tackle it headon.

    Thanks for the advice.

Keep at it, the 123 is well worth having for the interest and cashback alone. Their online banking is also tip top

    You're having a laugh right?

These "people" must either be brain dead, spinning you a yarn, or really dislike you for some reason.

Think of all the things you've disliked about other banks over the years, mix them all together, multiply them by 10, and you've got Santander.

    Stay away.

Care to substantiate that with any evidence or are you just mud slinging?
