Post of the month - suggestion...

Hello,
Was just thinking - would it not be possible to have a "Vote" button or similar at the footer of every 'first' post in a thread to make it easier to vote for the post of the month? Something similar to the "Thanks" button.
Sorry if this has already been suggested!

i like the idea, but then it seems a lot easier to 'artificially' boost vote counts. and its good do have people expressing there opinions. i think if you did that there would be a much much much higher vote count for random post, each trying to earn themselves a quick 50£
just my opinion0 -
I see your point but I think if it worked like the "Thanks" button (i.e. only 1 vote per person) it would be difficult to boost your post. I think it could be controlled well enoughBeing bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0

I think it's a good idea in principle, but the voting would also depend on how popular the board is.
For instance, the Small Biz board is very quiet but someone may put a really useful post that I want to nominate for post of the month. If it was done by votes then it wouldnt stand a chance as only a few people reguarly visit the board.

I dont understand...
Currently people already vote for post of the month by going to the post of the month board. They still vote for whatever they read don't they? Be it the £5 saving or one of the less popular boards? Or am I misundrstanding the current system?
This won't change what is voted for just how its voted for I think? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding things...Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
but if you look at post of the month board there is not that many posts thanking...look at how many thanks the no1 jennyjo has (at t moment 1002) however, i dont think that they would have more than 10 votes in the post of t month board (sorry if thats wrong and too little) however, if a button was made that effectively did the same as thanks but was vote then i reckon that that person would get sooo much more votes.0

I think this is a great idea. One vote per person per month, and you could also restrict voting to those who have a certain number of posts and above to prevent abuse by registering additional accounts? (20, 50?)
It might also be handy if you can "update" your vote. So when you click vote after you have already voted for a different post it just updates with your new vote.0 -
Can I just point out that it is not a vote. You can nominate a poster or a thread but Martin decides who gets the award.0
