Hi all. I know I am a lucky girl that I won a competition but now I am finding it hard to choose between what they are offering, can you guys help me.
choice A: Samsung 40inch widescreen full HD 1080 led tv with free view HD. (UE40EH5000) I can only see them being sold on Amazon so I am guessing an old model.
Also comes with a blu ray player LG 2D.
Choice B: Samsung 43inch plasma 3D tv HD ready. (PS43F4900)
Also comes with a 3D blu ray player.
Will be used for normal tv use not gaming. Movies and sport.
I really need some help please.

Do you really want a 43 inch screen? The rest is probably academic0

I don't mind 40 or 43 there is not much in it. My Dilemma is plasma but I get 3d or led and I get hd.0

LED TVs dont get as warm as plasmas, they'll save you money on energy bills. I also prefer LED to plasma. The quality seems to be better, which is probably why they're giving you a smaller screen for LED.
Also do you really need 3D TV? If not, go for the LED one, you know the work will be going into a decent TV, not just on gadgetry.0 -
We have the PS43D490 - may well be an "old" model now, we have had it for a couple of years.
That said, we are very pleased with it. The sound is good for a flat panel TV, and the picture is wonderful. Because it has the 3D engine in it the 2D picture is better than on the standard one. It has very good viewing angles too, and has dynamic contrast. It also has a very narrow frame.
We would buy this one again.
Incidentally, it does not get particularly warm either. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Preference for LED or Plasma aside (I much prefer the warmness and less artificial look of plasma tbh!) Your main consideration should be the HD capability requirement? If you do not have a external HD source for your TV channels such as Freeview HD box, cable or SkyHD then the picture displayed on a 43 inch screen from the internal SD tuner the plasma comes with will be disappointing.0

I prefer plasma, but this particular model is rubbish. Buy the 40 inch LCD. The plasma is a 1024x768 screen, with rectangular pixels. This means any picture going onto it will have to be scaled (squashed, stretched or shape changed) to fill it and the picture won't be sharp - the very point of high definition.
Also only has Freeview, rather than Freeview HD.
If it's not yet clear - take the 40 inch LCD!!0 -
Why do you say it is rubbish almillar? Have you been watching it for about 2 years? We like it, black is very black, viewing angle is good, picture is good. OK, it is not full HD, but our freesat HD looks VERY good on it, and we like the 3D too. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I have had the UE40EH5000 for about a year and can't complain about it.0

Thanks for all our really helpful comments, it was a really hard decision but I went for the LED TV. I really needed to see both of them together in a shop and choose visually which one I liked the best but this was not possible as it was a competition win and the package is being posted to me.0
