My daughter wants a Blackberry god knows why!

Here goes:

She is on 8p Tariff with Virgin 8p text 8p calls. On virgin I can pay £5 for a pass every month, giving Blackberry Messenger and 50mb data.

Will this data be enough for her to access Whats App and Facebook everyday? Reason I ask is looking on the Virgin Forum people are being charged £1 for data each day...

Haven't bought her this phone yet would prefer an android so much simpler!

Blackberry messenger is coming to android very soon, so you can get an android and avoid the £5 a month BIS charge

Have you looked at o2 pay monthly tariffs? I guess there are lots of BB deals around at the moment as it isnt the most popular phone although i have had one for nearly two years and am generally pleased with it. I have a 100mb monthly data plan and have never come close to even using 20% of that..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Thx. I don't want her on a deal. Just want to buy a phone and put her on Pay as you go. I have been hearing about BBM going on Android for months but nothing has happened.

Is there a certain Android I should be looking at that will cater for BBM or are most of them OK? She likes the Huawei Ascend Y300 and I know I can get this with free upgrade for £59.

50mb is pretty much nothing it might be enough for a messenger service and emails but not for browsing or Facebook.

50MB wont last very long at all on facebook.

blackberries have the advantage of compressing all the data so the phone will use less than others but ideally u'll still need more data

Perhaps give us a monthly amount and we can post payg deals with BB BIS, you are right that £1 charge with Virgin will sting most people.

Ovivo do free 150 mins, 250 text, 500MB plan with BIS for £5 for 500MB, 1GB all in for £5 a month. Vodafone network, 8p calls when allowances are finished.

BB Curve 9320 89.95 payg upgrade at Carphonewarehouse.

I don't think I will be buying her a blackberry. She is currently on Pay as you go 8p text 8p call with Virgin. Looking to only spend between £5 - £7 per month. Ovivo looks good but never heard of them!

my DD uses her Blackberry pretty much constantly. However, she doesn't text unless its through whatsapp, and she doesn't make phone calls unless its a quick call to me, and I use my free minutes on my contract to call her back. Almost everyone she knows who she would be calling or texting has a blackberry, so she uses her BBM services to call/text etc everyone else.

Her Blackberry is on t-mobile payg, and i pay £20 every 6 months for their BBM booster. Since putting her on that tariff, I have only needed to top up by £5 a couple of times since January, when she's needed to call me and used up her credit that way.

Under her normal daily use, I'd say I am spending about £5 per month for her top-ups and BBM use (£3.33 per month on the BBM booster, and no more than about £2 per month on average since she got the phone, for the occasional phone call she has made).

remember cashback sites when considering buying a mobile phone/contract/payg sim etc.
