I tryed to top up my abbey postal isa. I was going to send a cheque so i took 3k from my clydesdale account and placed it into my bank of scotland account as i have a cheque book with this bank. It wasnt untill i was home and checked my recipt that i disscovered only 2k had been put into my account for which i had stupidly signed for. The bank now tells me that everything balances up. So why did the teller tell me it was 3k? She is now off sick which is a bit suspect. Any advice?

I know this sounds a bit 'off' but are you definitely sure you took 3k into the bank? or that you definitely received 3k from Clydesdale? Assuming that you are, then maybe you can ask the BOS to check their CCTV footage? I would be very careful in the manner in which you do this though! Or ask Clydesdale to check that their tills balanced as well?
I don't know other than that... I'm sure someone far more helpful will be along soon....

Iam 100% sure the clydesdale done a balance and it check out fine. The money was in a sealed envelope that i handed to the BOS and they opened it.0

If you suspect the teller to be involved, then your only option seems to be the CCTV footage at BoS. While it may seem suspect that the teller is off sick, there may be a perfectly innocent explanation for that as well.
Do ensure that you handle the whole thing in a delicate manner. Try going and speaking to the branch manager amicably. It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -
So....
Your Clydesdale documented withdrawal shows £3,000 withdrawn?
And your B.O.S deposit documentation shows £2,000 deposited?
Well.... As others have commented, this is one for the Branch Manager. Provide copies of what you have, relay to them the story with as much detail as possible and remember, how you handle the matter will dictate how they handle it.

I agree with the poster's above. I would add though, that it is better to try to make an appointment to see your branch manager rather than just turning up without one. At least then you'll know he or she will be available and expecting your visit. Do this sooner rather than later. The longer you delay it the more hazy your memory will be.
Ensure you take along full identification with you, like a passport, full driving licence and recent utility bill or bank statement. Simply taking along just your cheque book and debit card will probably not be enough. Also bring along all the receipts you received detailing your withdrawal from Clydesdale and deposit to BoS.
Lastly, as the other posters have advised above. Do try to remain calm and polite when dealing with the branch manager and staff at the bank. Don't go in there all guns blazing. Try to be as clear as possible when explaining what happened that day. Do not imply that the teller acted fraudulently when processing the transaction. Without proof, there's no point making such an accusation, as this could affect the way your problem is dealt with. Please call me 'Kazza'.0
