Leaving Vodafone - Initial Payment Deposit / Advance Line Rental - Forgotten About!

Hello,

Has anyone left Vodafone recently or can they shed any light on this matter.

I joined Vodafone back in 2007 and have recently left them. I recalled when I first joined them that my first bill was a lot more that normal as I paid a form of desposit / advance line. I therefore emailed them to ask the details and if this would be taken off my final payment.

They replied that I only had joined then in 2008 and the value was just for 1 month (around £25). I wasn't happy with this answer and looked into my online banking. Infact I had joined them in 2007 and not 2008 as they had suggested. On my Bank Statement it is marked as 'Vodafone Initial Payment - £80.23'.

I've sent them countless emails asking them to provide a breakdown of what the £80.23 relates to. Vodafone convieniently can't come back with any answers.

I feel they are convieniently forgetting about my initial payment / advance line rental and are trying to rip me off.

Has this happened to anyone else? I would appreciate any feedback / advise.

Remember your first months payment is usually for higher than a "normal" month depending on when you took the contract out and when in the billing cycle you are.

The initial payment may have been £25 but your first payment could have been up to two times the regular month rental.

I can't imagine a bill payment to be called "Initial Payment" in the statement.

Could it be when you took out the contact you had to make a contribution towards the cost of the phone?

    Hi jimhayes21,

I'm afraid that this is a new one on me but I'd be happy to get it looked into.

To enable me to do this could you email me with your details via the link in our profile here?

All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it'll take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. Could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

    Kind regards,

    Lee
