What will happen when my iPhone4s o2 contract comes to an end?
This may sound like a really dumb question, but this is my first ever 2 year "proper" mobile phone contract, so I'm unsure as to what happens once the two years are up?
Is the phone now officially mine?
Can I ask them for a cheaper bill as I should have now paid off the handset cost? i.e. can I now ask to only pay for the mins/texts/internet required?
Is this the time I can ask for an "upgrade" if I want one?
Any help along these lines would be gratefully received! Obviously I want to be prepared to make sure I'm not paying over the odds for something or paying out for something not needed! Thank you

The phone has always been yours. Can I ask them for a cheaper bill as I should have now paid off the handset cost? i.e. can I now ask to only pay for the mins/texts/internet required?
Yes, you can go sim only, or even PAYG, something like GiffGaff or the new Three 1-2-3 or even the free Ovivo plan.Is this the time I can ask for an "upgrade" if I want one?
You would get the best upgrade in the last month of your minimum term, but if you upgrade, you are back into a minimum term and will be paying similar to what you do now.Any help along these lines would be gratefully received! Just to clarify, your contract doesn't end, it will continue until you terminate by giving notice or using a PAC to port your number to a new network.
You have just finished the minimum term, it just continues until such time you give notice.
Just to add:
If you want to move networks, you need to ask O2 to unlock your phone, you can do it using their website or online chat, it is normally free for contract customers and the unlock is actioned by plugging your phone into iTunes after O2 have told you the unlock has been processed.====0 -
Thank you ever so much for your reply! I really appreciate it
I probably won't go for the upgrade unless there's something really wrong with my current phone, I'll probably go for something cheaper which suits my useage. But thank you you've been very helpful! 0 -
Get O2 to unlock the iPhone before your contract ends, they will usually do it for free. Doing this will mean you will be free to move to another network or sell the handset easier.0

I was in a similar position and I went with GiffGaff £10 a month that was 9 months ago it piggy backs the O2 network and I have found it brilliantLow Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs
Since first using Martins I have saved thousands0 -
Thank you for the tips guys! Really appreciate it

First thing you do is get rid of that Crapple Iphone and get a nice Samsung or something . .. .
A brick with a tv screen would be a step up!I was going to put the name of my plumbing business here so you know what I do should I give out any advice plumbing wise - however apparently I cant do that - go figure!!!!!

Haha
I am open minded when it comes to phone brands and used to have Samsung after Samsung and was very happy with them. The only problem is that so many new phones seem quite large, so I'd possibly struggle to fit them in the small bags I use alongside the other items I take out with me. 0 -

Wow, talk about generalising!
If you don't want an iphone, why would you want a cheap plastic iphone replica? That's all Samsung makes.
If you wanted a decent quality Android phone there are numerous phones of higher quality, like the Sony Z or HTC One.
Even the Nokia Lumia phones are of much better build quality.====0 -

This is something I've found too (not that I am a small bag kind of guy, I just prefer a smaller sized phone). Unfortunately there's not a lot of choice if you want something comparable in size to an iPhone.0 -
I haven't really kept up to date with what's currently available but some of the phones I have seen look quite big. I'm a female so fitting things in a small "going out" type bag is quite hard sometimes! Although I'm sure some of the bigger phones are fantastic and I bet it's nice to see things on a slighter larger screen
