curtain poles are a minor problem .I bought a house in May .One curtain pole was left with curtain intact .The pole was fixed to the wall on one side on the other side there was a screwdriver in the hole that should have had the screw .Oh and I had to buy a toilet seat .

I've had 2 new builds to fit out in recent years so I'm quite accustomed to buying and fitting curtain poles! Dunelm Mill's do good quality poles and easy to fit (ie only a couple of screws and lift off rather than slide through on the pole holders), costs between £8-12 each depending on length. There is also something nice about having all matching throughout the house (well I think so!)

Thanks for all your feedback so far. I am a FTB so its all a bit daunting so far. Maybe I was naive when viewing the property and didnt think to ask about the poles.

Once I have exchanged contracts I am planning to go back to view the flat again measure up and will check how they have fitted the poles.

As someone mentioned, I might just block the windows with cardboard/newspaper for the first few days until I decide what style I want.

I dont have thousands of £ to spend on the rails but at the same time want to get something I like and lasts for a few years.
