Seller removing curtain rails

Hi
I am waiting to exchange contracts on my first home and the seller has indicated in the fixtures/fitting confirmation that they are removing all the curtain poles.
Does anyone have any advice where to find new ones and how to fit them as I wasnt really expecting them to be removed?
The sellers are buying a repossession property so I assume it has not rails either.
Thanks for your help,

You mean, like in shops?
You'll find instructions with the rails, but by the sound of it it might be worth getting a handyman in...0 -
I would have thought that curtain poles should be part of 'fixtures and fittings'
How have they indicated this, told you, told your solicitor etc.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
You can get curtain rails from places like Wilkinsons, Homebase, Argos. If you or a member of your family is any good at DIY, then you/they should be able to do it fairly easily/quickly. If not, a handyman will be able to do it too.0

When our vendors took their curtain poles, I lined the bedroom windows with newspaper for the first few days until I could get blinds and curtains sorted out.

Even Next sell them. They may leave the brackets but of not the holes and wall plugs should still be there so it's a case of screwing the new brackets in with a screwdriver and then sliding in the curtain pole. Have a look on YouTube for a video if you aren't sure but if you're going to be a homeowner you'll save a fortune getting to grips with doing basic DIY yourself.I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.

Can you remember if the poles are mounted directly onto the plaster or onto a wooden baton? You can either get poles that are the correct measurement or you can get some teloscopic poles. You may find you can just screw your poles into the holes/plugs left behind.
If the window is fairly small the pole with have a support at each end, normally you just screw them into the plaster/wooden baton and use the correct plugs for the screws, on large windows there is also a support in the middle. For those with a support in the middle you will need to measure where the middle of the window actually is, if you have a wooden baton you can just put a spirit level on top, if it is level that is an easy way of ensuring your brackets are.
If not you can either see if the window is level at the top and them measure e.g. four inches above the window and fit your brackets, or you have to do it the hard way and draw a level line in pencil if your window is out.0 -
Poles are easy to fit, just need a drill, some plugs and screws.
the last BTL I bought had no poles, I bought quite nice ones from Dunelm (sp) Mill and they were very cheap. putting them up took a couple of hours.0 -
No, they're not.
I have indicated that I am taking 2 expensive poles
Same here - we took some from our last house too. They were expensive and no longer in production, plus they were chosen to compliment our style of furnishings etc. There were none left at this house by the previous owners - their preferred method of keeping cosy was to affix fabric to the walls/windows by means of carpet gripper rods......but then we were buying a project, lol :rotfl:
Poles can be purchased in many places OP - eBay is another option - and they will come with instructions on how to fit as well as all the fixings required, although DH usually substitutes his own screws as those provided are often rubbishMortgage-free for fourteen years!

My curtain poles are about to be put up in the third house. I just tend to regard them as part of the curtains and take them down at the same time.
People at last house took theirs with them so I was able to mount mine in the holes they left.0
