How long do I have to wait to be able to insert a link?

I need to post a link to a document I need advice on

The forum doesn't allow me to do this!

How long do I have to wait?
How many post do I have to make before I'm considered not a spammer?

I fully understand the need for controls

EDIT: I'm going to try and give a link here: https://www.google.co.uk
And see if it works!

EDIT: the above worked - so I'm allowed to post links now??

New forum users can't initially post links. This is to help deter spammers advertising on our forum. The point at which forum users will be able to post links is "top secret" for the same reason.
