Orange sim only contract, but not sure of allowance?

I will give you the background first.
My Mom bought a new phone from CPW towards the end of last year (Samsung Galaxy Ace) after having a basic phone for years.
She had been on Orange PAYG for years and was spending a lot on top ups, also since having the new phone, her credit was disappearing, so I disabled the packet data on the phone, as these smartphones are always trying to connect to the internet and if you have no data plan, then that's no good.
I managed to persuade her to leave Orange and take out a sim only contract with Tesco mobile (I am already a customer of these and know they are ok), as you get quite a good allowance with the £10 a month. She was paying in excess of about £30 month on top ups! We agreed that it was best to wait for the credit to get really low, because if she switched to Tesco and ported her number then the credit would be lost.
Anyway last week she announced that she's staying with Orange because they rang her up apparently and got her to switch to a sim only contract for £8.50 a month, she said that as her account was in credit, they told her she wouldn't start paying until November, which is good. But we're having trouble establishing what her monthly allowance is. The new sim card has arrived and is working fine in the phone.
When I tried to ask her she reckoned they told her she'd got 1000 texts and 1000 minutes, I said is that per month and she said "no, overall". I think she's getting confused. I've tried to register her an account online, but you have to put your phone number in and they send you a security code, but I've tried it 4 times, whilst talking to her on the phone and it never comes through. Also she's had a letter saying "thank you for choosing Orange", but she says it doesn't say anything about the allowance. I haven't seen the letter, so can't comment as to whether it looks like it's from Orange or not.
I just hope it's not one of these 3rd party companies that have phoned her out of the blue and she's been duped. I've looked at the Orange website and I can't find a sim only contract for £8.50, there's one for £8, but overall the Orange sim only contracts are meagre allowances for what you pay.
Also, apparently my Mom has signed up for a year, so there's no going back!
Any advice please? Thanks in advance.
(sorry for the long post!).

Only she can tell you what she signed up for - without this everything else is pointless speculation.
As she is now on a SIM contract, she'll have an invoice which will provide the name of the tariff and the bundle of minutes/texts/data she's entitled to. Alternatively get her to phone CS and ask them the question directly.0 -
Call 150 option1, option1, that menu should give you a rough idea of remaining allowances left and a approximate time stamp of when last updated.
If Orange called her she probably has a customised plan from sales/retentions which will not be on the website.
Ask your mum to call 150 option 1, option2, option 2, option 2 and ask you details be added to the account as a authorised user. When thats done call yourself and start asking questions.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Is it easy for you to physically go to your mums and have a look at the phone and the documentation, or do you have to do everything long distance?
How good is your mum with technology? When you said you have tried to set up the account online and the security text didn't arrived, I wondered if she knows how to read texts on her phone? Or, are you absolutely sure she has the new sim card in her phone and the number transferred to the new card, and she isn't confused and still using the old one?0 -
Well 150 is the customer service line to find such out. Read upAlternatively, maybe it wasn't Orange, but someone who said they were "Orange"
?

Get your mum to text BUNDLES to 150. Disregard whats left if she has only just set up as this might be partial month allowances but it should show the standard full month allowances. If it does't mention texts it will be because they are unlimited (or that us what happened with me
).
This is sent back to you as a text. I have never seen a SIM only with a yearly allowance.0
