Unlocking XDA Mini S

Just purchased a XDA Mini S off ebay under the impression that it would be unlocked and i could use my 3 Sim Card.
I tried, but no success.
I've read threads on this forum, but wondered if anyone knew how you can tell your phone is unlocked even if a Sim Card doesn't work in it. (If you know what i mean??)
If 3 Sim Card will work, anyone know where i can get software or codes to be able to do this.
Thanks for your knowledge!!

pretty sure in order for you to use a 3 sim card the handset needs to be 3g compatible which i dont think the xda mini is (i think its a 2g handset). Try a tmobile, o2, orange or vodaphone chip and see if it works.
Edit: my mistake, looking at the xda-developers site posted by butterbeanmash below i think this might be what you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665 but please read everything in that forum and be sure of the process. You want to remove the simlock rather than the branding i believe.ummm...0 -
Hi BargainMan,
I have an unlocked Qtek 9100 (an XDA mini S). When I got it it had Vodafone branding and settings. To get the settings for '3' (and all the other networks) go to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=301279
Just connect your 'phone via 'active sync' and place the downloaded .CAB file into the folder you use for this. Then open it on your 'phone using 'File Explore' (it'll be in 'my documents') and the settings will install themselves.
If you haven't unlocked your 'phone then there's lots about that on the forum too.
Hope this helps,

Fantastic knowledge!
So do i download the 02 .cab file or the one for 3UK .cab file?
Sorry, bit slow!!

Hi BargainMan,
In the interests of scientific experimentation I tried putting my '3' SIM into my 9100 and downloading the .CAB. It would appear that the '3' SIM isn't immediately compatible. However, I'd suggest scouring the XDA-developers forum, because I'm sure it must be possible.
Sorry I may have misled you!
