Given that you are paying £15/month??? on a NatWest Adv Gold account, could you have claimed under the extended warranty 'account benefit' on the fridge/freezer?

wow, so if you closed the gold account, that £15 would cover the wongoa repayments and you'd be £5 better off, now that's a result!:T

  • No. I havn't used the advantage gold for a long time. It has been downgraded to a current account for a while now, but for some reason still shows as advantage gold on my statements, not sure why? So I don't get the benefits from the advantage gold, and I don't pay any fees on it either.

I got a text from Wonga on Thursday saying that they were taking the full amount on the promise date. I rang them and the lady said she could'nt see anything about a payment plan set up on the account! I rushed down to the bank and asked for them to cancel the CPA. The man was lovely and said he hates Wonga and would do everything he could to help me. He had to call through to a department as he could'nt do it, and he got told that they have asked Wonga not to take the money. But if they do then I will be refunded by the bank within 24 hours. Does this sound right? x

Sounds fair enough so long as you're not going to have problems being without the money for 24 hours, but I would make sure you get that in writing. Their word won't count for anything when the bank refuses to refund the payment and denies speaking to you.

Best to be cynical about these things.
