They said I have to go into the branch and I can't get there until tomorrow! I get paid tomorrow, will wonga try and take money before the previously agreed promise date
They wont take the money before they say they will. However, if they do decide to take it. They'll start from midnight on the agreed date
Will what Wonga takes, take all your wages?
They promised not to empty my bank account... and did. But to their credit they did refund every penny within 48hrs0 -
you can get a basic bank account anywhere.. some dont allow bankrupts thats the only restriction i can think of on a bsaic bank accountSealed pot challenger # 10

Wonga want to take £364 and a few pence. I don't even get that much this week, I just get CTC and WTC. So it would totally clear me out
Does this sound like a good plan of action....
*Ring tax credits, child benefit ect this afternoon and change the account that they are paid into to my gold account just until I can open a new account.
*Take EVERYTHING out of my account tomorrow morning
*Go to Natwest tomorrow and cancel the CPA Wonga hold
*Go to Barclays tomorrow and enquire about a new account and open one if I can.Sealed Pot Challenge Member #2806

Really? I tried for a basic bank account everywhere. Everywhere turned me down, Lloyds told me it was due to bad credit history?Sealed Pot Challenge Member #2806

Does sound a plan. I'd also call Wonga now, and get them to confirm that the repayment plan is set up, and they wont be taking the full amount. Make a note of the time, and the person you spoke to.0 -

Your promise date never changes, if you enter into a repayment arrangement your promise date becomes missed and you are considered to have defaulted. The promise date remaining on your account does not indicate that they will try and reclaim all of the money on that date, it just indicates that you are going to default if you don't repay the money then.
First you should contact Wonga by phone and ask what they do in this situation, there's absolutely no point in jumping through all these account change hoops if Wonga aren't going to do it -- plus it's unlikely your next payment will be sent to a new account at such short notice -- and you won't know if Wonga aren't going to do it unless you ask.
Nobody in this thread has provided any information on what Wonga do in this situation, just scaremongering, contact Wonga before you do anything else.0 -
Well I just called Wonga, and they confirmed that a payment plan IS in place. The lady was lovely and very helpful actually and she said that they won't try and take any money on Friday, and that the only money they will try to take, is the amounts stated on the payment plan on the dates stated on the payment plan. She went on to say that they would only try and take the full amount if I defaulted on the payment plan - which I wont as they are small payments that I can afford.
I was sneaky and recorded the conversation incase I need it for anything in future.
Do you think I should still change my bank accountSealed Pot Challenge Member #2806
