in Credit cards
So myself and husband tried to get a credit card with Santander and both were rejected
So we bought both agencies credit checks and our scores were
977 and 998 with credit expert (which Santander use)
Both Excellent
Are also excellent with Equifax
I took the report along to the Santander manager and he tried again and I was rejected again and the manager cannot understand why
We are registered at address etc, we have checked everything I have been through the report with the agencies and no one can seem to give us a reason why..?
We have zero debt and totally income between us both is over £10k a month after tax,
On paper is appears they should be throwing money at us but we cant even get a credit card, we are very worried as our just about to start applying for mortgage
Please can anyone shed any light on what could be the problem..?
Has anyone else had excellent scores yet be refused..?

Zillions of people. The CC Providers DO NOT SEE THE SCORE. They use their own criteria.ludoctro79 wrote: »Has anyone else had excellent scores yet be refused..?

Ok but I have been through the report with the bank manager and he can see no reason why either..? He said they just look at the credit report
There is nothing bad on it what so ever.
So where do we go from here..?
slightly worried that well if we cant get a CC how will we get a mortgage, we have zero debt , high wages and cant get credit, what's that all about..?0 -
These days Bank Managers have little or no input into credit card decisions. It's all done by computer. Try appealing to the CC department and you'll have a human look at things. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

The problem may be that as you have zero debt, they have insufficient data on how you would manage it. There must be something within Santander's criteria that you are no satisfying.0

Why do you need a credit card if you earn 10k a month between you?"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, the point is to discover them."

It may be that you appears on paper to be likely to pay off your card every month so they won't make any money out of you. On the other hand, a mortgage provider will want a lender who will be a good payer. They're making their money anyway.'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'

Why do you need a credit card if you earn 10k a month between you?
It was only to try to give us some history, we were only going to spent £30 on each a month and pay balance in full each month
that was the only reason really as thought it would look good for us so in turn that means we would be offered better interest rates etc on mortgage0 -
with Zero credit history, you need to start from the beginning, apply for a Vanquis or other credit builder card - try any of the application checkers (Barclaycard has one - so do others) before you apply to avoid getting any more full searches on your file.0
