We found a house we like, agreed a sale price and engaged the services of a broker as our work situation is kind of peculiar; I'm in permanent employment and OH is a contractor. So glad you didn't use them....contractor financials ended up getting our mortgage offer issued to us 4 days after the agreed completion date in the wrong name and to the wrong address!! (Just the post code but still!!)

Can I ask which broker you used? We're applying ATM and looking at CMME and wondering if their £695 fee means a better service?

In terms of surveyors, we were told that during the recession, loads were made redundant. Now things are picking up, there's not enough surveyors-a nationwide issue. Told this by C.Financials tho so will take it with a pinch of salt!
